    I'm more curious, how many papers entered this year? I know of several that didn't pay dues, because it's just not in the budget. And others had to have said, is this really worth my time given the industry?

    FWIW, judges do not get to grade their own divisions.

    Now David has been around APSE for a couple of years and may have built up a good rep to score well in the judging, but it's well deserved.

    If the Herald entered the special section I think it did, it didn't need Dave's judging to win. It still looks fishy, though.

  12. I know it's a futile desire, but I wish that APSE would get the winning/placing entries up this year, ASAP. All of them. I think for those willing to put their pride aside and read through them, that could go a long way in providing some direction and instruction to writers young and old.
