APSE just posted a weird statement on the site mixed in with contest results

I feel strongly both ways

 

Not to burst the conspiracy bubble, but it's possible the Google warning is related to a sudden spike in posting traffic ... as in, the APSE folks normally make 1-2 posts a week (if that), and suddenly they're posting dozens of new pages in a single day. That would have caught the attention of Google's spam spiders.

Earlier in the day, clicking on apsportseditors.org took you to a online drug store website.

 

Another theory: Does anyone know for certain how apsportseditors.org posting works? Is it possible that it's an automated system? The posts are broken into monthly newsletters. At my old shop, the system would automatically post stories throughout the day that had been routed for automatic posting. What that led to, on occasion, were files that shouldn't have been posted (perhaps a completely out of context breakout or a mislabeled notebook or, if the tagging wasn't done properly, empty posts with headlines) occasionally going up in a high position on our website. (It eventually led to a rule that all posting had to be done manually and, soon after, the dismantling of the routing system.)

What if this supposed warning was just a malfunction of the system? The counterpoint is that it was still up on the site after this forum and Deadspin mocked it. And now the site is down.

Why should the APSE worry about taking a stand? It's awards season.

 

They aren't ever going to say what the crux of the matter is, are they?

Would be funny if the question was about how Whitlock can skate with an apology given the punishment of ESPNers for offenses that were not as intentional or offensive.

 

Hey, I take it as a blanket statement.

Anything bad that happens to Jeremy Lin, we just aren't going to tolerate it.
