If only someone had started a thread about that...

    1. If you retweet something, is that because you are concerned about being first?
    2. Assuming a correlation between the Dow falling and some news event is also poor journalism, though extremely prevalent.
    3. The Onion Tweeted the AP post word for word, which was a pretty funny, snarky thing to do.

I wonder if the hackers can get us NBA playoff capsules faster.

The right-wing screechoverse is in hyperdrive with "Dave" scenarios.

    Seriously?

They think there actually were explosions and they are being covered up?

The major indices plunged, and were back up in six minutes. How did you lose money? You traded in those six minutes?

Markets are way up today. Anybody that lost money in those six minutes deserved to lose money.

By the way, why does AP have a Twitter account?

Aren't news organizations paying a ton of money to AP because it's supposed to provide breaking news that doesn't automatically go to Buffy's smartphone?

everything the guvvmint tells you is a lie, he looks like a shifty character anyway, he is in some intensive-care command outpost somewhere, they have had doubles ready to go since day one, we want our countree back, etc etc yadda yadda blah blah.

If you have standing stop-loss orders in to prevent against a major loss, those stops would have been triggered/violated, causing your stock to be sold at a low price.

The person or persons who did this weren't acting in an illegal manner.

They just didn't have the proper authorization required allowing them to tweet on behalf of the AP.
