    I enjoyed this Gizmodo comment:

"This is going to completely revolutionize my pooping experience."

No flash and limited storage space ... this is pretty underwhelming as a whole.

$499 for the 16GB drive and no 3G. $829 for 64GB and 3G. And no expansion.

I think I'm disappointed by the design the most. It's like an iPod touch for Homer Simpson in that episode where he gets fat on purpose so he could work from home, and his fingers were so fat he needed a dialing wand, and he was so fat that one time he went into a restaurant and he ate all the food in the restaurant and they had to close the restaurant.

Apple has been rolling. This one is going to fail, though.

Too much money for something that forces people to add yet another computer/appliance to their lives.

I guess Apple figured it gets the Kindle market by selling something more than a book reader -- make it iPod like and sell it as a multi-tasking, websurfing, do-everything device. But this is finally overkill. Much more expensive than a book-reading device. And the iPhone works because it is a phone that gives you more. Take the phone off it and you lose the one most necessary component. Everyone with a smartphone and a laptop is going to be sitting there saying, "Cool, but I can't afford another device, another monthly subscription, and it mostly duplicates the stuff I have already."

I know this is a company that is good at creating demand through marketing, but I am just not seeing this one. I think it is going to go the way of Apple TV, but from their perspective, they probably haven't invested a ton in it. The hardware is nothing new, and the OS was already developed--so maybe there isn't so much to lose other than people seeing Apple isn't infallible.

I had a Trash 80. I actually remember being excited when they upgraded me to one with the flip screen so I could see more than four lines of type at a time.

I'm definitely going to wait to let them work the bugs out. I think this is going to be amazing, but I don't see myself getting one before Christmas, and hopefully they'll have fixed some of the bugs by them.

Honestly, I think I use the phone aspect of my iPhone the least. I do much more e-mailing, texting and Web-surfing than I do calling on it. I don't know if I'm in the minority in that regard or not.

As I said, I think this is aimed at the netbook and/or "Gee, I love my iPhone but those Apple laptops are too expensive ... oh, only $499!?! I'll take one!" market.

I am in the market for a new laptop/netbook, but the lack of USB outlets and sufficient data storage means the iPad is crossed off the list of possibilities.

There is also the lack of a more powerful operating system that can run real software and not small "apps."

Seems like it would make jerking off to online porn less cumbersome.

Why would you buy something like this over say, a laptop? My son's iTouch fits in his pocket and can be mounted on his dashboard. What do you do with this thing?
