My wife laughs whenever I mutter "fewer" when people on TV incorrectly use "less"
I've done it ever since misusing "less" in a headline and getting called on the carpet

I throw fits when teevee/radio announcers refer to collective singular entities, such as teams, as "they."

"New York lost their fifth straight."

No, god damn it, New York lost ITS fifth straight. "The Knicks" lost THEIR fifth straight, but "New York" lost ITS fifth straight.

I know the British do it the other way, but it ain't our problem that the British don't know how to speak English.

It's particularly enraging when they do it with band names: "U2 are finishing up their next album."

No, fuckos, "U2 IS finishing up ITS next album." Got it?
