    3rd-and-5 or third-and-five?

    I see "third-and-2" in today's Redskins-Raiders gamer.

    My paper's style is third-and-2.

From the 2000 AP Stylebook available as a free PDF online.

    http://alumni.imsa.edu/org/hadron/ap.pdf

"Use figures for yardage: The 5-yard line, the 10- yard line, a 5-yard pass play, he plunged in from the 2, he ran 6 yards, a 7-yard gain. But: a fourth-and-two play."

We use numerals for all yards and measurements. Thus, despite AP, third-and-2.

Current AP style is to use digits: fourth-and-2.

Noticed that today when I came into work and looked at my 2008 Stylebook. I think some of AP's editors haven't caught on yet since I've seen the numbers spelled out.

fuck, my stylebook is from 2006 and said to spell it out a la third-and-five.

My stylebook has a red cover. I'm not at work right now, so don't know the year.
It is old. I hardly ever look at it anymore because I pretty much know how things should be done.
Our computers slow down when we bring up a browser, so it isn't worth it to go to the AP online stylebook.

  12. Correct. That's how we do it.
