AP style change on 3-for-5, et al?

I hope this is a very short-lived thread.

We've noticed that in a lot of cases, AP is no longer hyphenating the construction: "Jones was 3 for 5 with 4 RBI."

I e-mailed AP asking if they had changed their style, and predictably (perhaps that's unfair, but oh, well) I got no answer.

Not looking so much for "Yeah, we've seen that, too," but wondering if anybody knows definitively that AP has changed its style on this construction.

I don't know, but I like it if it's the official change. It's about time. And it's about time the AP style for sports be about numbers, exactly how you have it, SF: 3 for 5 with 4 RBI."

John Smith scored 8 points and added 7 assists.
