If I were an editor at the Times Picayune, I would hope that this particular reporter doesn't go about his regular business writing stories filled with "facts" that are plucked out of thin air, which -- to be honest -- is much easier than spending five minutes or so confirming them.

There's been some back and forth about the Times-Picayune and and a restaurant owner upset with an article of the city's eating scene. The owner referred to the T-P as a third-rate newspaper; this kind of disregard for basic fact-checking (randomly asking a score in a busy pressbox?!) doesn't help a defense.

Check your own facts. It was an Esquire writer who was taken to task for his review of New Orleans eateries by a Times-Picayune columnist. The Esquire writer then referred to the T-P as a third-rate newspaper.

Didn't Whitlock post a couple of weeks ago that he voted a team low because he thought they lost when, in fact, they won?

Yup, I went searching after I posted to find out. . .

But Idaho bet me to it.

    You da man, Idaho. ;)

Hey kokane, give credit where credit is due. All Idaho had to do was quote what someone else looked up. ;)

Hoops, in this case, I think it's legit. If a T_P writer gets dropped by AP for the exact same thing Whit did, then it's a legitimate comparison to mention. That it happens to be someone who's earned a lot of disdain on this board is, I'm guessing, coincidental, even if it is convenient.

No, I'm da man. Jeez, haven't I've been around long enough for people to have figured that out by now? :)
