AP changes writing style to capitalize ‘b’ in Black when referring to race

    I was in a SoCal newsroom in the mid- to late 1990s when the local NAACP pushed this change to the EIC. He made the change, but did not change to capitalize white. There was reader backlash until that change was made. AP has not determined at this point to capitalize "White."

    I remember the newsroom was not in favor of the move.

    I'm sure there will be backlash from this move.
