Heard on the grapevine that negotiations have been in the works for weeks, but it's official this month. AOL has hired Jay Mariotti, Lisa Olson and Kevin Blackistone as sports columnists. More hires to come. Or so go the rumors.
I'd say this is good news considering most posts on here are about the industry dying.

    Oh, don't worry.

Somebody will make it a negative thread before the first page is gone.

    (Not me.)

I've never read AOL like I sometimes do yahoo and cbssportsline and espn.com. I know I won't read Jay, but yes it's good news.

    Well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

And danews, most threads on here are about newspapers dying, not the internet.

The Internet's not dying, but it's also slashing jobs, like poor widdle mlb.com.

Will be interested in whom Compuserve hires to counter.

:D Seriously, way to go, Lisa!

I heard QuantumLink was in negotiations with Whitlock.

(Agreed with the props for Lisa, as always a class act.)

I think Bayless is headed to Prodigy.

Man, I hate AOL. Now, I'll have to read it. In addition to Lisa, who is always superb, I really like Kevin as well.

All right, enough of the overblown praise for Lisa Olsen. Now she's gonna come on here all full of herself and .... nah, never happen.

Good to know AOL has landed one of the best.

Honestly, and I know I'll get crucified for this, if you took Lisa Olsen's body of work and put it under a guy's byline, would it be anything special? I certainly don't see it. Of course, she's still light years better than Marriotti.
