Anybody excited for this weekend?

I have to say, I'm ecstatic about Saturday. I can't wait. Between the Kentucky Derby and the De La Hoya-Mayweather fight (nevermind any NBA or NHL playoff games), this is going to be one of the best days of sports in a long time.

I can't remember the last fight I've looked forward to as much as De La Hoya-Mayweather. Perhaps its just the moribund state of boxing or the fact that I'm looking forward to it so much it's clouding my memory, but when the was the last fight that was this anticipated? I wasn't nearly this pumped for any of De La Hoya's recent fights, Roy Jones has fought a meaningful bout in years.

What a great weekend to look forward to. Now if I can get through it without the girl I'm seeing getting too pissed off at me (she was talking last night about how she wants to hang out on Saturday -- argg!!), it will be perfect.

It's interesting that its the sports most would consider the a minor sport that are the headliners this weekend. Probably goes to show how far they've both fallen.

I am excited for both as well though.

I'll get to see the Derby, bu t not the fight. It's the only fight I've really given a shit about ... ever.

With the PPV starting at 9 EST, do we know when the main event is slated to start?

I'm sure I would be more excited for De La Hoya-Mayweather if I was not expeced to put down $50 to watch it. Forget that. I'll catch the highlights.

Hell, most bars around here are buying it in and not charging to watch. Go out, get some cocktails and watch the carnage.

I'd intended to take the long bus ride to Lakeland, Fla., with our local indoor football team.

But this week is getting so difficult, what with the Hancock funeral, I'm going to reschedule.

And, really, I wasn't excited about that.

I'll be working so I won't see either. Don't give a shit about either, anyway.

Yeah, around here, there's always a few bars that get it and they never charge a cover, so I'll be heading to the watering hole for some beers and boxing.

Before that I'll be at the local OTB to put some money on the horses.

I've got a pretty nice little Saturday lined up. Don't think I'm going to have time for the Bed, Bath and Beyond, though. :)

And I'd assume the main event will start around 11. That's usually when they get going.

I'm very excited for this weekend as well, but it has nothing to do with the sports mentioned in the first post.

Saturday morning is the final Old Firm match in the SPL season. That means my day at the bar begins at 7:30 AM. I think I'll treat myself to a few Guinness pints to go with my breakfast.
