Anybody else see a clause like this in any youth sports leagues rule books?

Sure solves the problem of taking games over the phone.

Well, then, no scholarships will be handed out either.

Apparently the league in question, which has existed in some form or another for 30+ years, has had a long and rocky history in regards to local publicity.

Off and on through the years the regional big city paper would run its game scores once a week along with one-sentence game recaps. Some seasons the league would assign one person to do this, other years individual coaches or parents would do it (with game reporting usually distorted accordingly).

The newspapers told the league they would not take calls or mail submissions from individual team coaches -- they had to get one submission for the whole league. Again this usually varied wildly due to which parent was writing it up.

At the end of the season individual teams would often turn their 'season recaps' in to the local weekly, which would run them. These usually turned into one-player end-zone dances depending on the parent who submitted the writeups.

Then individual teams and players started Facebook pages for their teams, whcih usually turned into boo-yah chest-beating trash-talking fests. Anyway I guess over the years the directors of the league got fed up with the whole thing and said 'fuck it.'

    And no scouts, either!

Seriously, the way Starman describes it is the only way to fly, until the postseason. Get them all from one source.

Oh hell yeah. Tell the league to appoint one person, and ONLY one person, as their 'information director' and have him submit one official league recap every week. Determine what day you can run it and set deadline a good 36 hours ahead of then.

Make it clear you will NOT accept any submisssions from individual teams, coaches, or parents.
