Any Advice On My College Decision?

Discussion in 'Journalism topics only' started by kweonsam, Jul 19, 2014.

  1. I'm not the one having trouble grasping the English language here

I will have to borrow a copy of the AP Stylebook at the library for help understanding why some believe it's the ultimate arbiter of English spelling and grammar. It might prove useful for my next book.

Spend your time in college learning to write well. Period. Don't focus on sports. It's too narrow.
Also, read as much as you can.
    Take a public speaking class.
Take history, law, and become proficient in at least one language other than English.
And if you can afford it, spend a semester in another country. (Maybe write some pieces over there.)

That should make you a strong candidate for just about any job in journalism.
