The Evansville Courier & Press, a 68,000 daily/88,000 Sunday in southwestern Indiana, is on the lookout for a sports reporter and a copy editor/inside page designer. We're waiting for approval but will move quickly when it comes. We cover two universities fulltime (Division I Evansville, Division II Southern Indiana), the Colts at home and in the playoffs, Indiana University at home and in the NCAAs, and nearly 60 high schools (15 extensively, others when warranted) in Indiana, Kentucky and Illinois. Summertime includes St. Louis Cardinals features, independent Frontier League baseball and United Indoor Football. E-mail interest to Sports Editor Tim Ethridge (ethridget@courierpress.com).

Evansville gets the vaunted boots seal of approval. Here's hoping the bean counters give you the approval.

    Evansville . . . ahhhhh, such memories.

I hated, hated, HATED, the catwalk in the arena. Scared me to death.

Jaya's is closing though, so there goes my interest.

The writing job, is it GA, a preps beat or college beat?

Vaulted or vaunted, I'm sure the SE is resting easy now that he has the stoob seal of approval.

They have a solid paper and good news sense as well as sports sense. They cover two college teams that don't get a lot of press outside of Indiana and do a very good job doing it. As for the city of Evansville it's a growing city that has gambling both casino and horse racing across the river in kentucky as well a stop on the unlimited hydroplane tour every fourth of july week. and lots of cultural stuff as well. A symphony, lots of great concerts for all genres, plus an attractive zoo and several good museums. it's also close to indy, louisville and nashville. the only downfall is the city's nickname "stoplight city". if you drive down us 41 during morning or afternoon rush hour then you'll truly experience it. Oh wait a minute, i better not say so many good things about the paper or the city because some of you guys might try and get the job that I've wanted since i first started in this business...never mind it's a terrible place that will get you nowhere except stuck in traffic...please disregard this transmission I WANT THE JOB.

Evansville the town sucks to be honest. I lived there for years. Hated every minute of it. It's a decent sized city, but the people there act like it's a small town. It's rather unfriendly to people to who didn't grow up in the area. When people ask you where you went to school, and they will ask, they're wondering about high school, not college.
