    Learned a long time ago, the hard way, that complaining about an unfair "demotion" in a newsroom doesn't hold much water if they continue to pay you the same. The duties you do -- report, edit, write columns, write obits -- are pretty much up to the discretion of the employer. And I think the first rule of claiming bad treatment tends to be, don't resign. Suck it up and sue while they're messing with you, if you feel so put-upon. Or tell them to take the job and shove it. Seems weenie to do both.
