ESPN is not the only one with some sort of mission. Here's another one from the Pipeline:

Tampa Tribune beat writer Andy Staples is off to SI. His last day in Gainesville is the 7th, and we're all going to miss him a lot.

Is this a new one, or one of the ones you knew about a while ago, but were waiting to release?

This was new - the two biggies I mentioned earlier are ESPN. One is about to happen and one is in limbo.

Thanks for the clarification. Nice to see the Pipeline takes no time off for holidays.

Pretty solid beat writer for the Tampa Tribune, been covering Florida.

Yes, apparently in the same region he's in now.

Moddy: Is SI trying to get the same type of regional-cover-all-corners rollout that ESPN wants?

To elaborate, this is why I thought the shit would really hit the fan a while back. You have to figure they'll both target the same talent in some cases and it could get interesting (and lucrative). I guess the holidays slow things down, maybe this is the start of some serious movement. I expect one of my two big 'uns any day now. Not at all sure when or if the other will happen now.
