Don't know if it's the same chain ... but it's the same format.

That's absolutely dreadful. A real newspaper being replaced by the print equivalent of a dollar menu hamburger.

Some of the staffers converged at a pub for a few drinks. The ME was asked by the videographer from King's what he plans to do now.

His response: Fucked if I know.

    Perfect.

    profitable bastards.

They changed the newspaper war in Toronto when they introduced Metro.
Sun responded with 24 Hours and Nat Post put out The Dose (though it died)
The Star had their own freebie until they merged with Metro
When you factor in the freebies with the bulk papers available (free STars, Suns, Globes, Posts at Can Tires and Jiffy Lubes etc), there are about 1,000,000 free papers available daily in the GTA.

That's sad. We have three free dailies ... Metro, 24 Hours and Rush Hour. Not sure who puts out Rush Hour.
Then there's the free alternative weekly rag, Fast Forward.
And the newsletter produced by street people, but you have to give them 25 cents for a copy.

How many people will be needed to put out the free paper? Didn't some people keep their jobs?

And the amazing thing is the 3 1/2 dailies continue to keep going and in the case of The Globe, thrivie

The Post has always been mostly irrelevant.
