So my current nano has gone to the great headphone in the sky, and it's time to buy a new one. Will I be encountering any problems in connecting the new one to my current i-tunes library on my computer? Or am I looking at a treeeeeemendous hassle coming up?

Assuming you use iTunes for your music, it shouldn't be a hassle at all. My wife and I share the same library with out iTunes. It'll have to recognize your new iPod, but you shouldn't have a problem with that.
