boots using bootsspeak in an attempt to combat the rising prevalence of bootsspeak might well be this board's postmodern nadir.

It seems this is the only way children understand.

Understand what? That you want to blame many of SportsJournalists.com's problems on someone else, instead of looking in the mirror?

Have a nice Europe Day tomorrow!

If IJAG and I are trolls, does that mean we get to frolic and prance in flowing fields of meadow grass?

Department stores will be gone long before newspapers.

It makes me laugh when people predict "the death of newspapers".

Every new media is going to make old media obsolete.

Records will make live performances obsolete.

The radio will make records obsolete.

TV will be the death of movies.

The VCR will be the death of movies.

CDroms will make books quaint objects.

    Ad nauseam.

The businesses that are creative, find new revenue streams and adapt will survive.

Hell, the Globe & Mail has just redesigned their print version & website, integrated the two and have just hired THIRTY new reporters.

And don't put the cart before the horse after you shut the barn door.

You just don't get it do you, boots? It's very simple. When you create a thread, pick a title that makes sense. When you don't, you get this.

My opinion: just quit creating threads, because none of them end well.

Does any industry do as much "Oh we're in trouble" nail-biting as newspapers do?

    The music industry.

    In that case, deservedly

I realize things don't look great.

But until a newspaper chain's balance sheet looks like General Motors' or US Airways' . . . can we please tell the Grim Reaper to take five?
