changed the title because having sent the photo around to my guy friends ... consensus is that she really, really needs a sandwich.

    not hot at all.

You needed your buddies' consensus to see that? ::)

The thing is, my love for Anna is deep and unconditional. I accept her for good and worse.

She is my Betty Grable. Always will be.

tough to tell what's too skinny and what's not. at first i was alarmed, then based on some posts here, i figured maybe she's not that bad.

so i sent around ... everyone's reaction was: yuck.

and it's sad, too. because if you've seen her up close, anna is an absolute goddess.

You've never been more right. Her smile is gold.

    That's a pretty impressive long-distance diagnosis.

Funny, the power of fame. One of my Russian friends said "There's a million better-looking girls in Russia, you just don't know them. Anna has Russian piggy-face."
There are actually several Russians playing on the tour that I consider prettier than Kournikova, although to my knowledge they haven't yet posed in a thong.

People said the same thing about Gabriela Sabatini back in the day. I was talking to her brother about that once, and he said "In Argentina, she's just ordinary."

Time to head south, young lads. ...

Yeah, yeah, yeah, more pretty girls we don't know about. Yadda yadda.

Maybe so. Anna won me over. Who cares about the others.

Now it would've been nice if she won more than the Dearborn Open, or whatever tournament in Michigan that was. That's her legacy. Whatever.

We all have our goddesses (and women their gods), and Anna is mine.

Amazing what's happened in Russia in the past half-century.

When Wilt Chamberlain visited there with the Globetrotters, he said there wasn't a single good-looking woman in the country. "Just a hundred million mullions [his term for ugly woman]," he said once.

I've never been a big Anna fan, but I find it hard to see many Russians on tour that could compete with her in the looks department.

    Kirilenko: Maybe.
Rodionova: Striking . . . have seen little of her, though.
Vesnina: Perhaps . . . haven't seen enough of her, either.
    Sharapova: Not quite
Dementieva: I like her, but it seems no one else does.
Myskina: Great cheekbones, but something about her is just . . . weird.
    Kuznetsova: Uh, no.
    Zvonareva: Uh, no.
    Petrova: Getting worse.
    Safina: Really getting worse.

Maybe there are some outside the top 50 or some up-and-comers I don't know about.

The only Russian tennis player even close to Anna in terms of attractiveness.

Not intended as a diagnosis.  I thought someone had implied anorexia and I was just agreeing with them that anorexia is not about weight loss for the sake of weight loss.  My apologies for not making that clear.
