    The comments here remind me of the ones in defense of the University of Washington in the wake of the Seattle Times' series earlier this year. Someday I'll understand the psychology of being a fan, of believing Your Team can do no wrong but even at mid-life I'm at a loss.

    Coleman's long been a national embarassment.

    What disingenuous horseshit.

    That and the story was done after one day, not after the whole series.

    The University of Michigan:

    a) is a fine university, one of the best in the nation, and even the world;

    b) admits plenty of functional idiots as athletes, as do the overwhelming majority of all D-I schools.

    I don't care. Nobody should care.

    Nobody would care except they continue to try to pass themselves off as the Mount Olympus of Academia.

    Of course, in reading the comments, I'm led to wonder who the hell Jim McCarty is...

    More from the Daily, though I'm torn how to feel about the AA News reporter not commenting. On one hand, he shouldn't have to defend his work; it stands for itself. But I don't mind peeling back the curtain once in a while and letting people in on our processes.

    Sometimes context makes things a little more understandable.

    John Heuser was out of state on vacation with his family. It was his first week off since football season started for us in July.

    Context? Michigan Daily? Was there free food involved?

    And that should be "some contest." Don't you read the comments on your own Web site?!? About you taking things out of contest?
