They're on a U.S. tour and the guitarist apparently packed it in just prior to a concert in Chicago. He left for the first time in 1986 but came back when the band reunited in 2001.

A statement from the remaining members, Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes and John and Roger Taylor, said a "gulf" had developed between them which meant they could no longer work effectively together.

It continued: "Although obviously disappointed and saddened about this, we are excited about the next chapter of the Duran Duran story."

Gerard Franklin, the group's spokesman, said the band would continue recording after the tour ends on 11 November. A new album is expected to be released early next year.

Rumour has it Andy will once again team up with Robert Palmer and Bernard Edwards to record as the Power Station.

Andy Taylor wasn't bad on The Power Station's album. Unfortunately, two of the four guys in that band are now deceased.

Beat me to the posting of Power Station reference, but with Palmer and drummer Tony Thompson both deceased, it'll be tough to have any kind of PS revival.

    Outstanding.

I loved "Take It Easy," though.

Forgot about Tony, but the references to Palmer and Edwards were ironically intended.

Andy had to run back to Mayberry. Ol' Barn couldn't hold down the fort.

The band got tired of him, because he kept wanting to whistle all their songs.
