Andrew Luck going back to Stanford -- skipping NFL draft

    Immediate thoughts:

    1) This is a mistake, whether the family needs the $$ or not. If Jake Locker had gone last year, he may have been the #1 overall. Instead, he will be a flyer late in the first round probably this year, who left millions on the table.

    2) Does this give any insight as to which way Jim Harbaugh is heading? He is talking to Miami, and presumably other NFL teams. Any chance he is heading back to Stanford for at least another year?

    What are people's thoughts?

Some insurance salesman just became a wealthy, wealthy man today.

P.S. Huge, huge, huge mistake by Luck. Unbelievably huge mistake.

It's a huge mistake, especially when there's a rookie cap a year from now.

I'm glad Carolina isn't going to get him.

As noted on previous thread, the rookie cap, if there is one, is already in place as it concerns Luck. No contract can be signed in the absence of a CBA, which ends March 4, so all draft picks are going to be playing by the new rules.

The rookie cap will be in place after this draft, no? Since the players will be locked out in March.

Smart move - stay in school and wait for the labor mess to pass.

Does Carolina panic and reach for Locker or Mallett to take his place?

    Only if they trade down.

Now if they can just come up with $8 million for Harbaugh, they can keep the band together.

If the rookie cap is in place for this draft, then I like the move.

    He can get his degree.

The Cardinal can contend for a national title.

    He'll be the Heisman favorite.

It's not like he needed the money.

He doesn't have to go to Carolina.
