How did Camden, NJ; Atlantic City, NJ; or Newark, NJ not make the list?

At least Cleveland's getting a casino.
Casino's really alleviated the blight and squalor in Atlantic City.

St. Louis might be on the list because the huge Chrysler plant on the SW side is shuttered.

Spoken like a true son of NJ.
We get offended when our cesspools of humanity don't get their due.

    Dear America:

We don't need high taxes, but if we get them, it's a no-brainer. One way or another, we're not stopping at No. 3.

    Yours truly,
    The City of Memphis

In the case of Camden you get a high murder rate, high property taxes, high car insurance, and a place where nobody wants to be on the street after dark. What's there not to be miserable about?

No way does St Louis or Kansas City rank higher on this list than Philly. Never.

Downtown St. Louis is pretty shitty.

Philly's not exactly a resort either. And in the bad parts of St Louis, it's the criminals that are mean that you have to watch out for. In all of Philly, it's the entire population that's mean that you have to watch out for.

I'm not disagreeing with you. I grew up near Camden. It's a pit of squalor, shame and human failings.
