this all raises a question: was tim promoted largely to avoid any dramatics by loopy? i mean, there couldn't be a less threatening choice to the little unit, right? ??? ??? ???

First off, Tim Smith is one of the BEST people I have ever known. He's an upstanding guy and a damn good journalist who can write circles around many of the clowns in NYC. He's been there long enough and has paid his dues in stops in Macon and Cincinnati to name a few.
Furthermore, he would be the Daily News' only African American columnist. His style is much different than anyone else on the staff.
He will be fine and I am very happy for him.

He's been to enough HR offices, so I'd imagine he knows a lot of people.

Isn't Iole more a MMA guy for them? Or maybe that's what they were planning?

To be honest, Tim is better. He has better connections in the boxing community and some may remember him when he did cable boxing shows for Showtime.

  10. I seem to have launched something of a theme here.
