And speaking of my old paper

    MORE layoffs at The Washington Times. I think this is six years in a row they've had late-year layoffs?

    One in sports, a number of others company wide. Including, it seems, the ONLY photographer on staff.

    Not going to say much more as I sit here and shake my head.

    Just talked to a head of a communications school who is very high on the future of newspapers. But that's when they have systems to deliver the paper virtually.

    Didn't I just see a headline in that paper proclaiming the first profit in decades?

    Apparently - and this will shock you - that may have been a little misleading.
    They are "on track" for profitability in 2015 with a little more belt tightening. Which seems to mean getting rid of even more people.
