It was noted that the entire visit was closed to the public. For all we know Spacey sat in the room talking about cigars and porn or human rights. As to why… I’m guessing it has something to do with the new movie studio setup.

I would guess that Sean Penn’s visit has more to do with being contrarian to a president he dislikes.

You left out the part about Chavez having absolutely no weapons pointed at the US. But yeah, oil is the equivalent.

I'm not hearing an unusual amount of fear and scorn about Chavez in general. But if you look at what he's doing in Venezuela and don't see parallels to what happened in Cuba 50 years ago, you might need to take another look.

Then again, Hollywood fawned over Castro for years, so I guess this isn't a surprise.
