    That trailer is based on a real ABA player. I believe Wendell Ladner posed in just that manner. He was a totally crazy guy.

    I heard an interview with Ferrell a while back where he said he read Pluto's book on the ABA and wanted to make it into a movie.

    Wendell Ladner is from around our parts. He died in a plane crash and Dr. J was a pallbearer. Lots of great Wendell Ladner stories in "Loose Balls," which I highly recommend.

    I think one of his coaches said of Wendell Ladner's playing style: "Wendell doesn't know the meaning of the word fear ... and he doesn't know the meaning of many other words, either."
