An obscure, but glorious, '80s cheese classic: Gotcha! on Encore

If you are awake, have not seen this film, and have Encore . . . . turn the channel there immediately.

Anthony Edwards as a young college student whose game of paintball turns serious as he becomes entangled in espionage in Europe.

"I thought he was a KGB from Russia."

    "He's a CPA from Encino!"

    Love it.

Go, children of the '80s. Watch this film.

Along with Lucas, one of the hidden treasures of 80s moviedom.

Neither one compares to Last Starfighter, but I concur, dooley.

Lucas...the best film John Hughes never made.

Valley Girl would also be in the forgotten gems category (tho not quite as forgotten)

Wild Life was always a personal favorite for me. Sean Penn;s brother, he did his best.

    It's casual.

  6. Hey, let's not forget Three For The Road, another movie with Charlie Sheen and Kerri Green.

Lucas is a great film. It pains me to say that about a Corey Haim/Charley Sheen vehicle. But they were great and I wasn't weighted down by fully knowing who they were, the first time I saw it.

Gotcha... That is the one with Linda Fiorentino? She was a handsome woman.

If it's the same chick from Vision Quest, that's the one.

My freshman year roommate was involved in a Gotcha style game -- TAG the Assassination Game. Totally ridiculous shit. I also got a little sick of his paranoia -- I came into the room too many times where he'd jump out from behind a piece of furniture where he was hiding and aim a cap gun at me.

Ebert called Lucas one of the most accurate depictions of high school he's seen on film.

  10. I don't know.
Winona didn't look like any band clarinetist I ever saw.

    Gotcha's great.

And Lucas has been in rotation on the HBOs this month. I watch it every time it's on.

As for Linda Fiorentino, anyone who likes her damn well better have watched The Last Seduction

I served my time in that dork brigade and I agree.

There's a scene when they're talking about developmental biology, some sorta larvae turning into something extraordinary.
