Interestingly enough -- if you do the RealClearpolitics look at the electoral college race -- it has moved today over what it had been for weeks....

Previously it had Obama with 304 EV's (in the map without tossup states being considered neutral) but today it has Obama with 322 -- a gain of 18, which is New Mexico's five plus Virginia's 13......

    FIXED -- sorry

Republicans went into the 2000 election with a 54-46 advantage.

But the GOP lost 4 seats in 2000, leaving the Senate makeup at 50-50.

So, if Gore had dragged out the recount through January and everybody voted along party lines, things could have gotten really interesting.

Yep, Gore got out for the good of the country, as the pundits said then.
    Oops, that was a mistake.
As far as the tie goes. Not. Gonna. Happen.

Having the lead in July has been a great presidential election predictor.

    Ask President Michael Dukakis.

    Ask President Al Gore.

And ask President John F. Kerry, who – you may not know – served in Vietnam.

I don't think Clinton was leading in July in 1992 either.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Poll numbers don't mean shit.

The only vote that counts is the electoral college in December.
