An Appeal To The Board's Rebel Contingent

Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by Fenian_Bastard, Apr 1, 2008.

  1. Younger FB No. 2 just got a job in residence life at Ole Miss, where he also will go to grad school. He is, as they say, over the moon, having visited last weekend and discovered that the campus is not as terrible place to be a young, good-looking single guy.
First time away from home and far far away, so any of you with tips about the area, restaurants, etc. etc. post them here or PM me if you'd like, and I'll appreciate it.

Graceland and Beale are about 45 minutes away...

The 21st Century is light years away.

Wow, the board's liberal emeritus' son is going to a school nicknamed the Rebels? Hmmm.

First thing I would do is buy a pickup truck. Then, by truck nuts for said pickup truck. Then, become a Republican.

You say this person is related to you?

  6. Also to his mother.
    Gregor Mendel was very smart.
C'mon, folks. ONE serious answer before we get to page 27 would be nice.
(Who in hell am I kidding?)

IRT the co-eds on campus, let's just say there's more pie than at Marie Callender's.

  9. I'd buy a Southern-to-English dictionary. Seriously.

Oxford, though, is not Starkville. It's actually a nice, little Southern town, a great walking town. Don't know if I'd like to live there, but, I say, I say, it has it's charms.

I haven't been back to Oxford in a year, so this might be dated.
Proud Larry's. Good grub. Locals call it Loud Larry's.
Doe's Eat Place. Great steaks and serious tamales.
Library. Was once a good place to drink and hear live music.
The bookstore on the sqaure is pretty awesome.
    I'll think of more.

Is the li'l Bastard a reader? A fan of bookstores? He's going to be around the corner from one of the nation's best:

If your son's a reader, Square Books is phenomenal.

And forget Graceland, check out Graceland, Too, just up the road in Holly Springs:

I would, however, make the trip to Memphis just for Rendevous ribs.

Hey, can't chase tail all the time ... though, at Ole Miss, you stand as good a chance as anywhere of accomplishing that.
