Bryan brothers clinch it with a three-set doubles victory over Andreev and Davydenko Sunday. Roddick (straight sets) and Blake (five sets, last went to a tiebreaker) won on Friday. First Davis Cup victory for the USA in 12 years.

Doesn't count. It's a journalism thread, and was played that way. :p ;D

    Anybody want to talk tennis?

Sure. Could Roger Federer beat Tiger Woods in a game of Calvinball?

Hell, yeah. Federer's more mobile. :D

Seriously ... was this on TV? Anywhere?

    Anybody?

    Is this thing on?

Like it or not, it's the ESPN effect. Not on ESPN, not in public eye.

  7. And they started their defense of the Cup 20 minutes after the awards ceremony, right?

Turns out it was on Versus (at least, today's two oh-by-the-way singles matches are there). Might as well be on public access TV in Wright, Wyo.

We had it on in the office, and I watched some of it.

But lamenting the public's lack of love affair with tennis is like saying "U.S. Badminton wins title, America yawns."

    Tennis is boring without Sampras.

It didn't help that the U.S. was facing Russia, with two players that most of us couldn't pick out of a lineup. If Safin had played, it might have had a little more fanfare.
