Wow. That's terrible. I knew "Heaven" peaked at no. 2 but I didn't know it was Milli Vanilli keeping the boys in white out of the top spot.

"Heaven" was one of those songs you just knew was going to hit the top five. Columbia built Warrant for a few months with "Down Boys" and set the stage perfectly for the second single power ballad. Then they come out all in white in the video.

"Love of a Lifetime" was another one, but you probably knew that. :D Another Columbia band too. Let "Don't Treat Me Bad" percolate for a few months and then.......BAM!!! Hit power ballad. Throw in an acoustic version to make the kids doubly swoon.

Just catching up. Not going to bother commenting on everything.

But when Jewel used the word "lascivious," and correctly at that, whew, that was hot [/wordnerd]

The summer of Firehouse was a particularly interesting one. I just remember that song playing in the background during a rousing poker game in which the loser not only lost $ but also had to drink a shot of the worst dark beer ever made. Don't remember the name of the shit, but it looked like it came in a medicine bottle.

Since the people I was playing with were rubes, I avoided the dark stuff until near the end. I can still remember how awful it was.

Outside, people were screwing on the front lawn. Arrests would have been plentiful.

A couple years later, some radio station had a theme on July 4: Fireworks with Firehouse.

For the record, stick boy's family totally know he sucked, and were not at all surprised that he was rejected.

The video for "Heaven" was shot at Sandstone Amphitheatre in Kansas City, Kan. I don't feel sad for Warrant, though -- Milli Vanilli deserved the top spot. Still got that CD, which I bought for 50 cents at a friend's garage sale. Worth every penny.

    1. I wonder if these family members allow precious to go and fail? Really, what better way to get it over with than be rejected on worldwide television? Then again, if precious is spirited, it could get worse.

    2. The guy who mouthed off that they should all be fired because he didn't like what they had to say ... sound like a profession any of us know?

ijag is much closer to correct than you are.

I can't believe the fascination with the lack-of-reality show of which you speak.

I really like the show (especially with the magic of DVR), but I don't watch until they narrow it down to 12, or at least the episode befoe that. Watching them make fun of the people who have no talent is mean spirited and kind of depressing.

    Funny you think that.

I think it is MUCH more depressing the level of rampant self-delusion in this country that these people show up.

The curly haired girl who sang "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" -- Sarah -- used to sing the national anthem at high school basketball games I covered. That girl has an amazing set of pipes.

    I thought the same thing.

And her line: "I guess you had to go to boot camp to appreciate Simon" was tremendous.

    Smart woman.

That's part of what is depressing. Some idiot who can't make their school choir decides to quit their job so that they get a chance to try out for Idol.
