My sister and her kids LOVE "Murrican I Dull," so two nights a week last summer I went to the bar for a couple of hours. Beer, much better than glorified karaoke. Christ, I do not understand the love for that shit.

Now, the 16-year-old boy ... THAT was a feel-good moment.

Randy Jackson was the guy from the Journey videos?

I always hated Ewell. Especially her first "hit" song.

    From a Journey Web site:

"Of the four musicians hired to fill the shoes of Ross Valory and Steve Smith during the recording of Raised on Radio and the subsequent tour (1986), only Randy Jackson appeared both on the album itself and live with the band, thus making him the only one who came close to being considered a full-fledged member of the band."

I guess, for the mom moment...but I didn't get it. I feel like his first line was brutal, and he got only marginally better from there. That's why I will never be a singing judge.

Once the shitty ones get weeded out, I stop watching this show -- but for some perverse reason, I love watching egomaniacs getting their dreams crushed like cigarette butts.

We live in an era when everybody thinks they're great at everything, that everybody can be a star -- and that's the case in every field, including ours, but especially entertainment. It's just not fucking true. Talent is rare; that's why it's called talent.

I like how vicious these guys are in reminding us of that.

Somewhere over the Rainbow girl is the best so far.

Yeah, and they really low-keyed her performance. Could be that they're building up for her "story" to be more prominent in later shows.

I was waiting for Jewel to show some human emotion and say, "Girl, I wish I had your voice."
