American hostage Peter Curtis released after 2 years

    Massachusetts journalist was held captive in Syria by Al-Nusra Front, supposedly al-Qaida's baddest of the bad before ISIS came along.

    We'll never know the back-channeling and deal-making that led to this but it's gotta be fascinating. Or, maybe we just paid them a shitload of cash and told them we wouldn't slaughter their entire families.
