So says this piece in, yes, Slate:

    http://www.slate.com/articles/life/education/2014/02/high_school_in_america_a_complete_disaster.html

According to the author, American high school students rank low in academic engagement, but high in social engagement. In other words, American high school students see school as a place to socialize, with boring classes breaking up the fun on occasion.

You know what? That's exactly how I remember it.

The author says that American high schools have to find a way to engage students academically, because they are basically boring them to tears right now.

Before anybody offers one of the touted, modern-day solutions to this problem: the prof in this story writes that NONE of them has worked.

Everything in America sucks. We're the worst at everything. We should move.

I hear Costa Rica is nice.

Swimming isn't going well in Detroit high schools.

Which is why the teachers need to be hot.

You think you'd be safe with a teacher named Sails.

Yeah, the high schools seem to be working well as hookup spots for most female teachers.
