There are plenty of ways to work out that are free including just walking. Poverty should not be an excuse not to exercise.

Optimistic view would be that if people lose weight their health would improve and possibly avoid high expense lifestyle related illnesses. Impacts on costs might
    be neutral.

Conservatives are supposed to be all about self-responsibility.

Whatever is your lot in life is the result of your choices. If you make the wrong choices, deal with the consequences.

This would seem to be about the most clear-cut example conceivable.

Seems like they should have first re-defined clinical obesity. Because right now a 6-foot-tall man who weighs 225 pounds is considered obese.

I see this move opening the door to a colossal waste of taxpayer money.

Dr. Michael Medved has done a lot of work in this area.

You can check out some of his research here:

That someone who is 6 feet tall and weighs 225 pounds is seen as "not that fat" isn't an indictment of the BMI scale. It's an indictment of how fat people are. The guy in the anorexia T-shirt isn't at the bottom end of the obesity scale.

But always nice to see the fat persecution wailers out in force, even when this is the exact opposite of fat persecution. People need to quit making excuses and eat less. It's not that hard, and I spent a hell of a long time being way too damn fat because no one would say it in those blunt terms.

I think this is one place the taxpayers may draw a line in the sand.

They'd probably better get those snackin' cakes out of the vending machine, here, before I end up filing a work-related claim.
