OK, So I'm sitting in the waiting room of some mechanic who's telling me part and labor for a new alternator for a 2000 Nissan Sentra will be $393. Sound legit? It's about twice what friends said it should run...but they're not mechanics.

    So what are you selling?

Do we have to, like, you know, entertain you more?

Man, I feel bad for IJAG. I've never met a person who has to wait so often.

    Anyway, that sounds expensive.

Instead, maybe it's she who should entertain us...
She could be sitting in the waiting room, amusing us with humorous, scintilating and titilating posts and we could throw change and bills in her laptop case, much like a street corner musician with a guitar case...

Looks like a remanufactured alternator for your car online is $171 so it looks like it's just an expensive job. Not like they are charging you $300 to put in a $50 part.

Should that be the case, you KNOW it's an epic rip.

The part itself is more than $150. But labor on it shouldn't be more than 1.5 hours. Even if you round that up to two hours, you're getting ripped off.

All the time you've lived there, you haven't found a backyard mechanic yet? Someone to take care of things like this after work or on the side?

$80/hour mechanic labor . . . live it, learn it, hate it.
