Color me shocked - Iverson's retirement has gotten off to a really bad start and, at the current rate, he'll be broke by June and dead by December....... ::)

Sorry if this is a d_b but I did a search and didn't see it so here it is.

Why is it so hard for some of these guys to make the transition from superstar to nobody?

I also think this should be a lesson for all these young players that having big posses and hanger ons around you all the time - none of whom have the guts to tell you NO or STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING - is not the way to go.

"Take the more than $200 million he has earned in his career, subtract Uncle Sam's take, alimony, child support for five kids, and no millions forthcoming, then ask yourself what the 6-foot guard has left."

Enough for most to live comfortably.

One of my close friends is a pit boss at MGM Detroit. I've heard some interesting stories about some athletes, but none about Iverson. I'm surprised to see he is banished from Detroit Casinos.

Two casinos deny that he was banned.

Makes sense. Why would a casino ban a millionaire who gets drunk and likes to spend a lot of money?

Not paying his markers would be the only reason.

Interesting. I thought this story was conspicuously lacking in details, it reads like someone just putting in print the gist of the off the record AI rumormongering going around. The casino-banning was about as specific as the allegations got, and and now it appears even that might be questionable. Just wonder how much homework Stephen A. did for this one.

Did he live at the MGM when he was there? I heard he just got a suite there for the season and was always on the casino floor.

Iverson is still an All Star player. He made the team this year but could not play cause his daughter was sick.
