As always, your heartfelt anguish when Obama fails to live up to your oft-stated progressive ideals is touching.

Probably to the limited extent any non-POTUS could. I'm sure Angela Merkel didn't grow up dreaming of signing off on prosecuting a journalist for the "crime" of crudely mocking a Turkish despot either. It's an imperfect role filled by imperfect people and no one makes it through without feeling sick about the principles they compromised along the way.

Living up to your word is a progressive ideal?

Calling a genocide what it is, is a progressive ideal.

I may not agree with the president on certain policies, but it would be nice to be able to be proud of a President who was as courageous and idealistic as he presented himself to us.

Pope Francis shows the courage that President Obama lacks:

Is this a deliberate chance in policy? Weird way to do it if so.

Piss off Turkey and Trump. Potentially piss off Russia if Trump downplays this, because going back on it pisses off pro-Russia Armenia?

Well, in 6 1/2 weeks it won't be Obama's problem anymore.

Here's hoping Trump refers to it as a genocide.
