    An old ME of mine suggested something similar. She'd say you should always write with someone in mind. She didn't specify who it was, because it could vary from person to person, but I think the idea was to write a story as if the least knowledgeable person you know was reading it. If you could do that and explain it well, it was probably a decent read.

    Well, it's not a bad idea, but to target all of your stories at a specific demographic is offensive and absurd.

    This concept was proposed to me once, and I responded with a "See Spot Run" column. Do we really have to write to the lowest common denominator? Fucktard, anyone?
