All-time favorite athlete whose career was cut short?

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by Evil ... Thy name is Orville Redenbacher!!, Jan 4, 2011.

  1. So who is your all-time favorite athlete whose career was cut short by injury or death?
Bo Jackson? Tony Conigliaro? Len Bias?

For me this is an easy one ... Billy Sims.
I will never forget the NFL highlight of Sims hurdling a Houtson Oiler and kicking another one in the face. I loved watching him run.
I was never an Oklahoma fan or a Lions fan, but man o man, I could watch him play all day. He would have been a special running back, on pace with Dickerson and Sanders.

No question it's Bo for me. He's the only athlete who would truly bum me out if it came out that he was juicing.

    Bo Jackson for my generation.

All-time would be Gale Sayers, IMO.

Not career that was cut short, but life:

    Dan Quisenberry

One of the classiest athletes of all-time.

No question if I was older, my answer would be Bias.

It's a tie between Mossy Cade and Rae Carruth.

    Dwight Gooden (self-inflicted)
Bernard King (long career, but so few games due to injury)
    Gale Sayers
    Bo Jackson
    Pavel Bure
