Not sure if I’m a nerd in good standing or not, but I liked the Johnson movie. It set up some interesting things that were then forgotten about in the third movie. Yes, commander purple hair was terrible, as was super Leia in space, but I liked the Fin story line and felt Poe was given stuff to do. The lightsaber battle was great and the story of Luke was fantastic. I liked the diversion to the casino planet and the ending with the kid was cool.

However, the third movie tried to pretend like much of the last Jedi didn’t happen.

I'm not sure how interested I am in the movie, but they are not wrong. Christopher Lloyd is a legend.

I watched Batman & Robin with my kid last night - holy smoke is that a bad movie. If anything I think it's worse now than it was in 1997.

I know there's one episode left, but I'm really struggling with this season of Picard. I thought the first season was nearly perfect. But this one is a convoluted mess. And some of the things that hits quite frankly are contradictory the stuff we already know about his life. At the same times it all seems so familiar, borg, time travel, yada yada yada.

I'm not sure how they're going to wrap everything up in the next episode.

I think that may be why they are bringing in more of the TNG cast for season three, then wrapping it up there. I'm not sure they know where to go with this. Also, even the great Patrick Stewart has to slow down sometime, right?

They wrapped Picard in way that answered most questions and elicited some emotion, but meh. Still no where near as good as season 1.

Any thoughts on Strange New Worlds? Overall good. The opening surprised me, for some reason I wasn't expecting "These are the voyages..." But after 50 years of bitching about my Captain Kirk it s seems like they're casting Pike as Kirk. The new Spock bothered me less than I expected.

I overall enjoyed The Batman, but could have largely done without the third act. They could have jumped from one scene in particular to the final scene and it would have been a stronger, more interesting film. I posted more thoughts about it on the movies thread.

The new season has its charm and the ending was ok, but I agree that it wasn’t the first season. Everything was too much wrapped in a bow, they were hyper focused on some minor motivations that could have been dealt with sooner or with a bigger payoff and there was too much trying to be a social commentary. Trek does social commenting best when they do it subtly. But it was a little much for not much on terms of stakes.

Strange New Worlds looks like Trek’s answer to the Oriville without the comedy. I’m going to watch but I hope they find their groove.
