I agree they need to use the death of Superman sparingly and it can quickly be played out or not done well.

That said, the DCEU's problems in 2016 (BvS didn't come out in 2015) was not because of the death of Superman. BvS had problems above and beyond his death. The story was choppy and incoherent, Luther sucked and the character of Superman was weak. Then Suicide Squad suffered from studio interference, a bad story and a villain that was nothing more than a bad CGI thing.

The death of Superman was dumb largely because we knew Justice League was coming so we know Superman was coming back. They should have made Man of Steel 2 the Death of Superman after Justice League so it is actually impactful and the next Justice League movie we don't know if he's back and it becomes a driving force for the plot.

The "Death of Superman" is always stupid. Always.

You know they're not going to really kill him off so the whole thing is just a complete jack-off of the audience.

The only time it ever works is in "elseworlds" or "imaginary stories."

It can be a plot driver if you do it in a way that isn't Vince McMahon's limo getting blown up. If you do it after Justice League comes out, so you don't know in the cinematic universe if they will continue Superman, there are stakes. You can even have the Flash go back in time to save Superman, but have it cause even more problems. Like any storyline, it comes down to execution and the Death of Superman wasn't executed well because we all know he's coming back. The only thing going for it is we don't know the state of Superman when he returns. Will he be evil?

Ooooh no, will Superman go rogue?

    Another real cliffhanger there.

It's hilarious, because this dark dingy uniform look, is almost exactly the dark dingy uniform look they ended up with in Man of Steel and BvS as the "standard" uniform look.

Seriously, is there a more perfect person to appear in a Star Wars Universe film? The guy could play an alien without a drop of makeup.

With Defenders due to drop on Netflix Aug. 18, I decided to watch the second season of Daredevil again. The first season had its moments, but I still think the second was the best of any of the Marvel Netflix series so far. The main reason for that was Jay Bernthal's portrayal of the Punisher. I've heard mixed reports regarding the character appearing in Defenders. Some claim he won't appear, but there was a brief appearance at the end of the latest trailer. Now that could be a promotion of tbe Punisher series, which will be out later this year.

Anyway, this made me want to share a couple of great scenes. Both include spoilers about the character, which you may not want to see before watching Daredevil Season 2, so be warned.
