    Willamette Week makes it a habit to kick The Oregonian's butt on stuff like this. The worst was with Neil Goldschmidt, the former Portland mayor, Oregon governor and U.S. Secretary of Transportation who had become a highly paid lobbyist for energy and other industries. WW was getting ready to publish an article about his years-long raping of his teenage neighbor in the 1970s and the subsequent cover-up. So Goldschmidt took the story to the Oregonian and confessed to an "affair," and the Oregonian was so happy with itself for getting the scoop that they let him call it that even in a headline.

    It was one of the more embarrassing moments in modern journalism.

    The Oregonian's epic whiff on Bob Packwood's sexual harassment (20 or so years ago) is in the running, too, isn't it?

    Most stunning thing about that photo is Oregon actually elected someone who goes to church.
