That Alaskan Amber seems to have a thing for sportswriters :D

There was a Roswell Amber who was ... blue eyes like aqua springs of lust. And that was just the start.

I did a story on a kid who played in Alaska last summer. Said he and his teammates would play their games and then go fishing. Said midnight fishing was fantastic.

Also said after one of those fishing outings, he returned to his host family's house ... and a moose was parked on the porch.

If you don't mind me asking, who was the story on?
The moose on your porch is cool. Now if it's a bear.....
Those kids have it good though. They get Alaska in the best time of year (forget Insomnia, 24 hours of sunlight rocks) and miss out on the -50s.

Didn't Tom Seaver once play for the Alaska Goldpanners?

Yeah, Seaver played for Alaska. More recently, Ryan Garko, Michael Young, Kacque Jones, Jason Giambi (no truth to the rumor he was first introduced to the "clear" here) and Barry Bonds.

Really cool moment in the national anthem here. The girl who was singing it (who did a great job) had here microphone crap out on her a couple of times. When it starts having trouble, the rest of the crowd, that had just been listening, started singing along (started by the two teams, I think). By the end, her mic was back, and everyone was singing along.
Cool stuff, all capped off by the first-ever flyover for a Fairbanks sporting event. Just thought I'd share this with you (and the ABL isn't as draconian about blogging as the NCAA)

Got to admit I'm enjoying this. These games usually attract 300 people on a good day. Today, we're in the 4,000-5,000 range. There's actually a roar of a crowd.
They're not helping their (mostly) adopted team, though. Panners down 2-0 in the top of the third and their started left in the top of the 2nd with a twisted ankle.
The sun is hidden behind the clouds and the Panners could see their 14-game MSG winning streak snapped.

Midnight has come and gone, but the clouds stay. Bummer.

Might as well bring closure to this thing. Alaska loses 6-1, snapping a 14 game winning streak.
