Alabama Sports Writers Association awards

    Shocking that Dewalt would win in the golf category. Seriously, that was a good piece of work.

    Bama has 20, Georgia has 18.

    Take another look. Georgia has divisions, Alabama does not. Granted, best swimming story (remember, Auburn is a national powerhouse in the sport), or tack & field, will not register in a lot of states, but that's a lot tighter than a lot of contests.

    Best Tennis Feature not on deadline?
    Best Swimming and Diving Feature Without A Deadline... I'm sure that looks great on a resume...

    Whatever happened to best feature, best column, best gamer, best enterprise and best deadline reporting?

    Because everyone gets ice cream, that's why. Despite looking good on a resume (for some editors, others do not care), state awards are a joke.

    How many entrants were in the "Best Swimming or Diving Feature without a deadline" category...

    I'll bet that's some tough competition...

    That's the most embarrassing awards list I've ever seen...

    My state has:

    * Deadline sportswriting
    * Non-deadline sportswriting
