Isn't the Cousins kid one of the top-ranked prospects in the nation? Yet he can't win his own state POY award? Weird.

    He's super-good. He's going to Belmont.

The ASWA rules say Mr or Miss Basketball has to be the Player of the Year in their class -- six in the AHSAA and one in the AISA.
Cousins wasn't the 5A player of the year, so he wasn't eligible to win the award. Still, he was in the ASWA's Super Five along with players who are headed to Middle Tennessee State, Western Kentucky and the 5A player of the year, who is being recruited by Duke, Kentucky, Alabama and Florida.

    Even worse.

My sources say Cousins finished second in the Mr. Basketball voting, ahead of the 5A POY.

    Again, weird.

Edit: I'm not even sure why I care, honestly. Just seems like a debacle.

This group has always put a good bit of value into the character of the individual. Not sayin', just sayin'.

Yeah...can't have any "thugs" get recognition. Sigh.
