No. Zawahiri and bin Laden go way back.

Zawahiri and bin Laden met in Sudan and later merged Zawahiri's Egyptian terror network with al Qaeda. The two are almost single-handedly responsible for the terror networks in the Horn of Africa, and many consider Zawahiri a much larger operational piece of the system than bin Laden. Bin Laden has provided the logistical support to establish the networks, but Zawahiri has done much of the leg work.

 

Meanwhile, a suicide bomber hit the Daily Akbar. Seems the bomber was upset that the paper didn't cover the 11-12-year-olds Goat Sacrificing League and was angry that his son won't receive a scholarship to AQ's youth training camp.
