    Looking back, I'm surprised Johnson didn't get more votes than he did. At the same time, that was a pretty strong class. Not sure the guys Sabathia would be up against will finish quite so strong.

    And, FWIW, it looks like the schedule is lining up for Sabathia to get 8 more starts.

    It shouldn't. But how else does anyone justify Johnson finishing seventh that year? I'm not saying he should have won, Glavine was amazing that year and so was Hoffman, but seventh is absurd for a guy who just owned everyone for 11 starts.

    It's got to make the short list. That's only 10 years ago and those three are so far gone it's as if they never played.

    11 starts is about 1/3 of a season. Not enough to be close to winning against a strong field that did it all year.

    I'd say Terry Pendleton in '91.

    EDIT: Although, Dick Groat and Jim Konstanty are up there.

    Pendleton was awful. Was Bonds second that year?
